Sr. Accountant
Description CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY - 6+months duration - ONSITE Sr. Accountant in the life insurance industry, based in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this role, you will be executing complex financial accounting and investment accounting tasks, preparing regular internal and external financial reports, and analyzing financial data. You will also be taking part in special projects as a team leader or member, with a focus on technical accounting matters.Responsibilities: Execute complex general ledger accounting tasks for life insurance subsidiaries and non-life entities on both a statutory and GAAP basis. Prepare journal entries regularly to accurately record financial transactions. Prepare and present financial analysis to departmental and shared service leadership. Create regulatory, external, and internal financial reports. Act as a subject matter expert on technical accounting matters. Participate as a team leader or member on special projects. Use software such as Microsoft Excel, NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP for various accounting tasks. Perform tasks related to investment banking, investment financial analysis, and investment financial modeling. Balance and reconcile accounts regularly. Monitor and take appropriate action on customer accounts.Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of accounting, preferably within the Life Insurance industry. Demonstrated proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations. Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for financial computations and data analysis. Experience with general ledger maintenance and journal entries. Efficient and timely handling of month-end close processes. Familiarity with popular accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP. Background in investment banking, with a solid understanding of financial analysis and modeling. Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting complex financial data and providing insights. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and team members. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications such as CPA will be considered a plus. High level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
