Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.Responsibilities:Manages and provides design oversight for a team of engineers and specialists for engineering projects in support of LLE, and primarily the Omega Laser Facilities. Provides full range of custom electronics services supporting research and development. The LLE Electronics and Controls Engineering group is seeking a team manager in the custom electronics section.Team primary focus areas include:
Omega Laser Facility existing core infrastructure (timing systems, motion controls, etc.)
Omega Laser Facility existing diagnostic systems (Electronic pulser instrumentation including streak camera electronics and other pulser based instrumentation)
Installation and integration of equipment into the Omega Laser Facility
Team responsibilities include:
Provide timely support of service level requests
Provides on demand support for equipment repairs
Custom electronics design work
Works intimately with the Omega laser facilities and other side labs to provide consultation and support
Actively evaluates obsolescence issues with installed base of equipment and identifies/recommends path forward
Responsible for installation and integration of equipment into the facilities
Interface with external contractors and vendors
Team Manager responsibilities include:
Tracking performance and overall progress of assigned work
Assisting section manager with resource loading
Identifying and communicating capital equipment needs
Hiring committee representation
Assisting group leader and section manager with project-level work assignments
Assigning and scheduling service level work
Ensuring the time-reporting records are current and accurate
Scheduling hours and providing vacation request recommendations
Manager's commitments to their direct reports includes:
