VCC is an equal opportunity employer.ResponsibilitiesDirect and provide outpatient care to clinic patients and ensure quality assurance including examination of patient's eyes, sight testing, diagnosis of visual disorders and diseases, determining course of treatment, providing and supervising appropriate treatment for such diseases, including glaucoma, cataract and diabetes.Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement and utilization reviewExamine the eyes of patients of all ages to detect signs of injury, disease, abnormality or vision defectsExamine eyes and fitting spectacles or contact lensesWrite referral communications to doctorsReading retinal scansPrescribe medicines for people with eye conditionsParticipate in the development of clinic protocols and procedures to ensure quality eye careParticipate in utilization and peer review programs which evaluates the quality of the optometry staff and services being performed at the clinicsQualificationsMinimumCurrent California Optometric LicenseState of California Certification for the treatment of ocular diseaseState of California Certification for the treatment of glaucomaA Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) Degree from an accredited optometry schoolCurrent CPR certificationPreferredBilingual English/Spanish preferredExperience/familiarity with Practice Management and Electronic Medical Records systems, NextGen preferredRequired Skills/Knowledge/AbilitiesExperience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail communication systems and internet search capabilitiesPI257136603 Apply
