Job Title: Marine Painter (Awlgrip)Reports to: Paint and Finish Department HeadLocation: Platypus Marine, Inc. Port Angeles, WAJob Type: Full-TimePosition Overview: The Marine Painter assists with properly cleaning, preparing, and painting the interior and exterior surfaces of yachts, marine vessels, and associated equipment using handheld or power tools for the application of coatings and paint products. They will adhere to proper painting procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards while ensuring job-site cleanliness.Key Responsibilities:
Clean, sand, and prepare surfaces for painting.
Apply primers and ensure proper surface readiness before coating.
Use air-assisted spray equipment, brushes, or rollers, to apply coatings, including non-skid finishes.
Operate and tend spray hoses and assist during large-scale paint shoots.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
Work in various settings, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoor environments with variable conditions.
Exhibit a positive attitude and professionalism with coworkers, subcontractors, and clients.
Abide by all company policies and procedures, including mandatory use of timecards and sign-in sheets.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in paint preparation (preferred).
Advanced knowledge of paint application techniques, including Awlgrip coating systems.
Proficiency in using painting-related hand and power tools.
Ability to read and adhere to labels, safety warnings, and guidelines.
Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Experience using a pallet jack, forklift, and scissor lift (required).
Versatility and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
