Data Engineer
Job Title: Data EngineerJob DescriptionSeeking Mid-Level Data Engineers to support the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO). In this position, you will facilitate the configuration and integration of diverse data repositories to drive analytics and DevOps capabilities, ensuring efficient and secure data transfer and system monitoring. You will use ETL technologies and cloud-based tools to optimize data pipelines, develop scalable solutions, and improve system health. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new data solutions, automate processes, and deploy features that directly support mission-critical client needs. Responsibilities
Facilitate the setup and integration of structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data repositories into systems that support mission partner needs and bolster a data analytics and DevOps pipeline to accelerate the delivery of client-facing functionality.
Oversee all operational aspects of data transfers, ensuring the security posture of the infrastructure, systems, and applications, and monitor environmental health using various health tracking tools.
Automate configuration management, utilize relevant tools, and stay up-to-date with data extract, transfer, and load (ETL) technologies and services.
Operate under general guidance, proactively developing solutions, assessing architecture, and identifying opportunities for automation, optimization, scaling, and cost reduction to enhance the health of the environment.
Apply expertise in data engineering technologies and services, working with databases and various data structuring and retrieval techniques, understanding cloud architecture, and establishing and managing cloud environments programmatically using vendor consoles.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand client challenges, prototype innovative ideas and technologies, and develop solutions, including designing, implementing, scheduling, testing, and deploying complete features and components.
Maintain a suite of web scraping tools that serve as the initial stage of the ETL process.
Identify and implement scalable, efficient coding solutions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus 5-7 years of experience, or a Masters Degree plus 3 years of experience.
Experience with Big Data systems, including Apache Spark/ Databricks
2+ years experience with ETL processes
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or MilCloud 2.0
Experience applying DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and automating that process.
Experience with multiple coding languages.
Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Work EnvironmentHybrid schedule. 2-3 days a week in Falls Church, Arlington, or Alexandria.
