Tipton Airport Operations Specialist

Incumbent is supervised by the Operations & Maintenance Supervisor (OMS) and provides immediate support of airport operations including fueling, ramp operations, snow removal, grounds and facility maintenance, and customer service. Incumbent ensures a high level of safety is maintained while providing superior customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Fueling management, including both 100LL and Jet-A:

Perform daily testing of the fuel.

Perform daily inspection of the fueling equipment.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the fuel tests and the fueling equipment inspections. Report all discrepancies to the OMS.

Periodically monitor fueling operations and assist customers as necessary in using the fueling system.

Restock HAZMAT boxes as necessary to ensure adequate spill materials are maintained.

As necessary, assist in the receipt of fuel deliveries.

In accordance with the Emergency Operations Manual, takes all steps necessary to respond to fueling system emergencies.

2. Ramp Management:

Monitor activity on the ramp to ensure safe and secure operations. Conduct runway inspections at least twice per day and ramp inspections on an hourly basis. Take corrective action and/or advise the OMS as appropriate.

Welcome all arriving transient aircraft via the UNICOM to offer assistance with parking. Walk out and greet arriving transients and offer assistance with bags, rental car, etc.

Ensure the Transient Log is updated for each arriving transient aircraft and the ticket is posted on the board. Ensure the ticket is removed from the board when a transient aircraft departs and is included with the daily end-of-shift report. Maintain knowledge of transient aircraft parking rates and ensure they are accurately applied.

As necessary, assist based tie-down customers in resolving issues.

Ensure all vehicle and pedestrian gates are secure and properly functioning and report all discrepancies to the OMS.

As directed by the OMS, assist with special events.

3. Facility Management:

Ensure that the Operations Building offices, flight planning room, common areas, and restrooms are kept neat, clean, and stocked.

As necessary, assist with minor maintenance including but not limited weed control, mowing, clearing of snow and ice.

Perform periodic inspections of the hangars and the lift station.

Conduct monthly readings of the utility meters.

4. Vehicle maintenance:

Ensure Airport vehicles remain adequately fueled and that the warning lights and radio are operational. Report discrepancies to the OMS.

Ensure Airport vehicles are neat and clean. As necessary, assist in minor preventive maintenance.

5. Emergency Contact:

In accordance with the Emergency Operations Manual, take all steps necessary to respond to airfield incidents/accidents.

Coordinate with the OMS or Airport Manager to respond to emergency alarms.

Coordinate with the OMS or Airport Manager to respond to other Airport emergencies such as fuel system problems.

Maintain currency with the requirements of the Emergency Operations Manual.

6. Perform other minor duties as may be assigned from time-to-time.
