Weekend Caregiver/Companion (Home Health Aide)

Weekend caregiver/companion in our Garden City, LI home for our physically disabled, wheelchair bound 37-yr old daughter. Care consists of feeding, bathing, dressing, diapering, and facilitation (primarily assistance with computer, phone and TV controls). Must be proficient in English (verbal and written), have a positive attitude, basic computer skills and be comfortable around a small, very friendly dog. Punctuality and dependability are very important and preference will be given to local candidates. Hours: Sat 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sun 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Caregiver is welcome to stay over on Saturday (no nighttime duties).

Surehands lift and hospital bed minimize lifting, but some physical strength is needed particularly for dressing/diapering (our daughter weighs about 110 lbs). Comfortable, separate sitting area (with TV), private bathroom, bedroom and efficiency kitchen for caregiver adjacent to our daughter's room.
