Job Title: Comptroller / Accountant Controller

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and licensed professional Comptroller/Accountant Controller to join our growing company. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in accounting, finance, and management, particularly in the construction and property management sectors. This is a full-time, on-site position in Beverly Hills, CA. We are looking an accountant with hands-on experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and oversight of accounting functions for both construction and property management operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Office Management: Oversee the all accounting operations including coordinating with HR, Payroll, filing, AP, managing banking relationships and operations.

Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, reports, and forecasts for the construction projects and property management operations.

Budgeting & Cost Control: Manage and monitor project budgets, costs, and financial performance for construction projects and properties under management. Ensure projects stay on track financially.

Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow for construction projects and property management operations, ensuring liquidity and timely payments to vendors, contractors, and staff.

General Ledger Management: Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger, journal entries, and all accounting activities related to construction and property management operations.

Accounts Payable & Receivable: Supervise the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring proper documentation, compliance, and timely payment/collection processes.

Tax Compliance & Filing: Oversee tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, payroll tax, and income tax filings to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Audit & Internal Controls: Maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. Manage internal and external audits as required.

Financial Strategy & Advice: Provide financial insights and advice to senior leadership, including cost-saving strategies, financial planning, and analysis for new developments and property management operations.

Team Leadership & Mentoring: Lead and mentor a team of junior accountants, ensuring proper training and development to improve skills and efficiencies within the accounting department.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a construction or property management environment.

Industry Knowledge: Deep knowledge of accounting principles and financial management in both construction and property management sectors.

Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software, ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, Timberline, Procore, or similar), and Microsoft Office Suite.

Leadership Skills: Proven experience managing or mentoring a team of accountants or financial professionals.

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data to executives, project managers, and stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with construction project accounting and property management accounting systems.

Knowledge of construction cost tracking, job costing, and revenue recognition specific to the construction industry.

Familiarity with tax laws related to real estate, construction, and property management.
