(Candidates must appear in person for the examination.)The City of Stockton is currently recruiting for the position of Craft Maintenance Worker II . There is currently one (1) vacancy in the Public Works Department for a candidate that is skilled in a wide variety of plumbing, carpentry, painting, concrete, masonry and related craft work in the construction, maintenance and repair of CIty buildings, park and recreational facilities, city buildings and related structures as well as performing other assigned duties . Incumbents will work a 9/80 schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:00am-3:30pm and Fridays 6:00am-2:30pm with alternating Fridays off. Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to submit and successfully pass a background investigation, which will include fingerprinting and a medical examination which includes a back evaluation. CLASS CHARACTERISTICSCraft Maintenance Worker II is the skilled, journey level class in this series. Incumbents perform the full range of assigned duties. This class is distinguished from Craft Maintenance Supervisor, which is the first line supervisory level, responsible for the entire craft maintenance program. Successful completion of appropriate trade school or authorized apprenticeship program in plumbing or carpentry may be substituted for up to one year of the required work experience. Craft Maintenance Worker II : In addition to the above, two years of experience at a level equivalent to the city's Craft Maintenance Worker I class. Other Requirements:

Must possess a valid California driver's license.

Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds

Must be willing to respond to emergencies in off-hours as necessary.

Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Must be willing to work with exposure to unpleasant and potentially hazardous substances.

The Examination:

Applicants who qualify in terms of relevant work experience and education will be invited to participate in the examination process. The examination process may include a training and evaluation examination or practical examination weighted a total of 100%. However, the City reserves the right to utilize alternative testing methods if deemed necessary. Candidates must receive a minimum passing score of 70%, as determined by the relative performance of all candidates in all portions of the examination. In the event of identical ratings, candidates' names will be arranged in order of application date/time, and, if the same, then arranged alphabetically.NOTE:
