Elementary Reading Specialist - Long Term Substitute
Reading SpecialistThe Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking an Elementary Reading Teacher for Pashley Elementary. We seek professionals with literacy or reading certification and who foster a love of learning and inspire students to attain the highest level of success.Assignment Dates: March 8, 2025–June 2, 2025 (Estimated)Key Responsibilities:
Teach targeted reading intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources.
Assists struggling students in improving their reading and fluency skills.
Be knowledgeable of and champion the components of a scientifically based Structured Reading Program
Creates and examines data to measure the success of their Reading RtI students
Conduct individual and school-wide assessments to evaluate tier levels and targeted interventions.
Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and support services via the MTSS Framework.
Create a schedule for the K-5 Reading RtI program, ensuring all qualifiers are seen the appropriate number of minutes according to District and NYSED Regs.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal and K-12 ELA Supervisor
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field.
Valid teaching certification in NYS.
Experience in reading instruction.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
