Pay Range: $62,000 - $104,000 (Dependent on Experience)

Your Role.

The Bear Creek School is currently seeking to add a member to our teaching team! Teachers are responsible for using a classical Christian education model to teach students, develop virtue, and help each student grow into the individual God intends. Lessons are carefully planned to inspire and motivate students and to support them in reaching the learning outcomes. A successful teacher creates a nurturing environment where all students feel known and valued. Christian Studies teachers specifically aim to provide opportunities for personal engagement with the Gospel, examine the integral nature of Christian thought and teach students to understand the foundational role of Scripture, theology, and Christian history.

We are seeking an individual who will…

Approach classroom instruction and student interactions from a Christian Worldview.

Collaborate with grade level teams and department members to plan and implement the school’s liberal arts curriculum.

Actively ensure academic growth in every student by utilizing a variety of instructional techniques.

Build positive partnership with parents through proactive communication.

Create a predictable and supportive classroom environment.

Increase professional knowledge by participating in professional development opportunities.

Plan and develop engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices, and prepare daily and weekly lesson plans to help students meet the learning goals.

Follow through on routine job responsibilities including grading, record keeping, attendance, and lesson planning.

Participate in collaborative evaluation processes with Division Head and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Attend weekly faculty meetings.

Be involved in at least one co or extra-curricular responsibility.

Attend school events outside regular school hours including, but not limited to: Parent/teacher conferences, curriculum night, arts performances, student socials, open houses, & professional development sessions.

Maintain a learning environment that is organized and pleasant in appearance.

Monitor halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff.

Enforce safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Teach Christian Studies using the best of classical pedagogy.

Collaborate with colleagues in the Christian Studies department.

Continually evaluate lessons and assignments to maximize student learning.

Provide opportunities for personal engagement with the Gospel.

Examine with students the integral nature of Christian thought.

Teach students how to engage in cultural discernment.

Lead students to understand the Christian narrative.

Emphasize the foundational role of Scripture, dogmatic theology, and Christian history.

The successful individual in this position will:

Required Experience and Education.

Bachelor’s degree required

Teaching experience preferred

Familiarity or experience with the classical Christian education model preferred

Currently held CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (with Epinephrine Auto Injector supplement included), or arrangements made to obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. No sponsorship is available for this position

Thorough understanding of pedagogy and the best practices of education.

Desire to teach middle and/or upper school-aged children and ability to adapt to their developmental status.

Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and individual or collaborative projects and research.

Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
