The New York Guard is a VOLUNTEER Military Organization

The New York Guard focuses entirely on state-level Domestic Operations (DOMOPS). We are a service that is 100% focused on helping citizens during emergencies and natural disasters throughout New York State.

WE ARE SPECIFICALLY LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS IN THE UPSTATE AREAS, BUFFALO, ROCHESTER AND SYRACUSE.

New York Guard soldiers are trained in:

Military Emergency Management

Incident Command Structure

Emergency Computer Operations

Public Affairs

Military Radio and Telephone Ops

Forklift and Warehouse Ops

Debris Clearing

Flood Preparation and Management

Chainsaw

Skidsteer and other heavy equipment

Medical - (through civilian EMT cert)

Food preparation

Points of Distribution

General Military Support

Military Leadership

Military Drill and Ceremony

Who can join?

You are 18-50.

You are in reasonably good health.

You want to serve your state and nation.

You are prior service and want to continue to grow your career and advance your rank.

You have aged out of federal service but still wish to serve.

You have a special skill(s) that can have a positive impact on your community.

New York municipal employees may qualify for up to 30 days of their standard pay while ALSO being paid for state active duty.
