Manager Job Description
Summary:
Manager Responsibilities:
Managing crew performance and productivity
Must work a minimum of 35 hours a week. TOR must be coordinated and approved.
Ordering/Shopping for all business supplies for location consistently
Monitoring inventory levels, understanding product use (weekly/monthly/seasonally)
Shop according to need, i.e. not running out and maintaining consistent shopping days.
Making sure all products are stored correctly and in compliance with food regulations
Managing all money drops (making sure all drops are correct and documenting issues)
Making sure the change bag has an appropriate amount of change for daily operation
Hiring and Terminations of all staff
Communicating with owners when new staff is needed or when staff puts in notice or resigns.
Scheduling employees, posting schedule within appropriate time frame for employees
Ensuring enough coverage while staying within an appropriate cost-effective labor range
Finding crew members' individual strengths and weaknesses.
Work with staff or schedule Assistant Manager to assist with training to improve areas for improvement.
Making sure all employee paperwork is up to date and in cart (food handler cards)
Have systems in place to keep kitchen clean and operational at all times
Maintain all standards of cooking and safety
Developing effective training methods to increase productivity
Ensure staff plating and portions are correct and the quality is up to standard
Following all restaurant protocol as instructed by owners
Work to make production and use of space as efficient as possible
Responsible for execution of food/event specials. Ensure staff are trained properly on Special.
Have a full understanding of each menu item from prep to presentation
Making sure the correct prep of any/all menu items are being completed
Organize kitchen in a clean and orderly fashion (periodically organize for best results)
Working with Assistant Manager to complete and conduct quarterly reviews with staff
A great Manager is someone with a natural ability to lead. This quality enables them to oversee staff to maintain the Owner’s overall goals and vision for the business. They prioritize food safety and cleanliness by scheduling routine cleaning, reviewing health code laws and implementing food safety standards into employee training programs. Further, a great Manager has excellent customer service and acts as an example to their staff when engaging with customers or responding to complaints. The Manager also has an innovative mindset that enables them to develop marketing initiatives to expand their customer base within the local community.
