Weatherization Crew Technician

Position: Capstone’s Weatherization Assistance Program provides home weatherization services free of charge to Central Vermont community members with income-based needs. The Weatherization Technicians and Field Supervisors work together as part of the larger Weatherization team to make homes more energy efficient, resulting in energy cost savings, increased comfort, and preservation of environmental resources. Working in Weatherization provides opportunities for skill development and pathways for career advancement in this growing field!
Capstone’s Weatherization program is currently seeking Crew Technicians to perform the following work: carpentry, insulation installation, window and door replacement, targeted air sealing work, heating distribution system air sealing and insulation, communicating with homeowners and residents, maintaining worksite safety, and ensuring that work is conducted according to quality and performance standards.
Qualifications: Weatherization Crew Technicians must have experience in building construction or trades. This position involves travel to and from worksites in an Agency vehicle; Crew Technicians are required to have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Additional requirements include:
Ability to adhere to safety practices and procedures.
Basic knowledge of building science principles.
Willingness to perform hands-on work, under sometimes uncomfortable conditions (i.e., hot attics and damp crawlspaces).
Ability to learn and apply new information and skills, and willingness to complete industry training and obtain certifications, as
required.
Communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse populations.
Demonstrated respect and positive regard for people accessing income-based services.
Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position with a 4 day/week (Monday-Thursday) schedule, offering competitive pay at $26.99/hour and generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits.
