Key Responsibilities:

Safely launch and retrieve boats daily and assist with trailering and parking at the launch area.

Clean and process fish caught by guests, ensuring proper handling and cleanliness.

Clean boats after each use and perform basic maintenance and minor repairs as needed.

Help with general daily tasks around the launch, including cleaning, organizing gear, and maintaining the launch area.

Take on additional tasks or projects as directed by management to support launch upkeep.

Provide help to guests with boat launches, equipment, and general inquiries.

Get along and be friendly, offer your help to other lodge guests and guides.

Camphands are team players and are always available to help with any project.

Job Details:

Position Title: Camphand

Compensation: $16-$18/hour

Employment type: Full time

Dates of Employment: Middle of May through middle of September

Pay Schedule: This is a position that is paid an hourly rate.

Transportation: Your point of hire is Soldotna, Alaska. The job starts and ends in Soldotna, Alaska. We do not pay airfare from the lower 48 to Soldotna.

Daily Schedule: Early days and sometimes late evenings are the norm. This is a 7 day per week position. We do try and give floating rest days to average 1 day every 7, however, we are a fishing lodge and aim to serve our guests 100% first.

Dress Code: Clean, neat and well-groomed is the standard. A professional appearance reflects the image we are looking for. We supply uniforms that are required wear. You will be required to bring specific items. The dress code is Jimmie Jack’s Lodge logo shirts and hats.

Qualifications:

The Jimmie Jack Fishing Co. hires only the best professionals in the business.  We pay a premium salary for experienced, seasoned camphands. 

Valid Driver’s License

At least 17 years of age at the time of hire.

Ability to perform physical tasks like lifting or carrying, cleaning boats, fish, and equipment outdoors.

A person who can present themselves in a professional manner, prove to us they can be helpful, and communicate with our guests.

Friendly, approachable demeanor when interacting with guests and assisting with their needs.

Familiarity with launching and trailering boats is beneficial; training may be provided.

Willingness to take on a variety of tasks and adjust to changing responsibilities in a dynamic outdoor setting.

Ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive, efficient work environment.

A ‘can-do’ attitude with a commitment to completing tasks efficiently and supporting lodge operations.

Requirements

Our boats and equipment are above average, and we require employees to keep them that way. We expect superior performance from our employees, in personal hygiene, professional contact with our customers and relations with other employees. The most important factors that we look for when hiring a person are a good attitude, honorable, and high work ethic. If you aren't willing to put in long hours, this is not the place for you. The position requires employees who are honest, presentable, personable and friendly. We require people who can present themselves in an outgoing manner. We expect good manners, good grooming and a professional appearance, above reproach.
