HR Generalist for Restaurant Group

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Generalist to join our dynamic restaurant group. This role is essential in managing day-to-day HR functions and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience with Toast Payroll and a strong understanding of HR compliance, including workers' compensation, employee relations, and labor laws.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Operations:

Oversee all aspects of HR operations, including employee onboarding, payroll administration, benefits management, and offboarding processes.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Payroll Administration:

Manage payroll processing through Toast Payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Address payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.

Compliance Management:

Ensure compliance with all labor laws, including OSHA standards, EEOC regulations, and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Oversee workers' compensation claims, reporting, and communication with insurance carriers and state boards.

Stay current with changes in employment laws and regulations and update company policies as needed.

Employee Relations:

Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, providing guidance and support while maintaining confidentiality.

Promote a positive workplace culture by fostering employee engagement and managing conflict resolution effectively.

Recruitment and Onboarding:

Partner with hiring managers to manage the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews.

Conduct new hire orientation and ensure employees have the tools and information needed for success.

Performance Management and Training:

Support managers in performance evaluation processes and employee development plans.

Organize and deliver HR training sessions on company policies, workplace safety, and compliance topics.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

3+ years of HR experience, ideally within the hospitality or restaurant industry.

Proficiency with Toast Payroll or similar HRIS/payroll systems.

Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including workers' compensation regulations.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.

SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.

High School Diploma required, preferable Bachelor's degree

MUST HAVE TOAST PAYROLL EXPERIENCE

Prior experience working in Hospitality setting (restaurants, hotel, entertainment etc.) preferred

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook), with advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks a plus

Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Detail-oriented and able to prioritize

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Self-starter
