Tea Sales Person: Farmers Market Help

If you love tea, drinking tea, and even just talking about tea this is the job for you! This is a really fun, low stress job as jobs go! Not only is it outside in fresh air, there is a wonderful sense of community working at local farmers markets both with other small business owners/vendors and our customers who are some of the best in the area. However, we cant stress enough that this is a job that requires talking to customers and advising them on tea.

Pearl Fine Teas is the finest premium specialty boutique tea purveyor and blender in Washington DC. We direct source, custom blend and sell a finely curated collection of premium teas and herbal wellness blends. We are a small, woman-owned company that prides its self on quality and connection. Our main selling outlet is at local DMC area Farmers Markets and also online Nationally.

The Job: Weekend Work

If you are looking for part-time work on weekends, we’re hiring! We’re looking for staff to work our booth/tea tent at local DC, MD, VA Farmers Markets selling loose leaf teas and drinks to go.

Markets are open year round rain or shine. In some cases, a market may close early at the discretion of the market manager if weather conditions are excessively poor.

Markets are on Saturdays and/or Sundays mornings. Most markets end by 12-1p or 130p.

Staff must be available to work one or both weekend days.

Details and Responsibilities

Excellent verbal and communication skills. (This isn’t a transactional job where staff just rings up orders. Being comfortable communicating to customers is a requirement. Tea people love to talk about tea!)

Represents Pearl Fine Teas as a Brand Ambassador, its high standards and values.

Is proactive and a self-starter who is able to, and likes to work independently

Prides themselves on a high level of accountability and integrity

Provides exceptional customer service

Educates themselves about our products and can communicate to customers

Person must be accountable, reliable and honest.

Requirements:

Must show up to markets on time which is typically 30min before a market opens to have enough time to set up before the selling bell rings.

Must have a legal drivers license and own a car large enough to load supplies.

You will be picking up from a central location in DC and then heading to work at a market on your own and then dropping back off at the original location.

Must be comfortable and able to work alone at markets.

Must be physically able to lift up to 35lbs and be able to set up a tent and table and display supplies properly. (Tents are 8x8 or 10x10 and are easy to set up.)

Must own a cell phone and be able to work a sales app (Square).

Ideally can commit to working at least 3 months or a market season. Longer is preferred!

Compensation + Added Benefits

Market shifts are typically 4-6 hours.

Falls Church Farmers Market (VA) / 8am-12pm

Monroe Street Market (NE DC) / 9am-1pm

Mt. Vernon Market (DC) / 10am-1pm

Arlington Market (VA) / 9am-1pm

Central Farm Markets (Bethesda MD) / 9am-130pm

Dupont Circle Farmers Market ( DC) / 830am-130pm
