LEGAL ASSISTANT / SECRETARY NEEDED

Busy family law firm in New Bedford seeking a Legal Assistant/ Legal Secretary to become a part of our team! 3+ years of LEGAL experience is REQUIRED. Experience in family law is strongly preferred.

This position include answering telephones as the first point of contact; significant client telephone and email contact; filing; scanning, copying, and organizing client and court documents; preparing basic word documents; assistance with discovery responses; and indexing and preparing client files for court and office appointments.

Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Office.

A successful candidate will be able to work well with clients, be extremely detail oriented, self driven, work well independently, prioritize workflow, and shift gears as needed.

Responsibilities:

Assist with the drafting of legal documents

Telephone and email communications with clients, court staff, state agencies, and other individuals

Scanning and filing

Requesting and compiling documents

Assist with discovery and trial preparation

Maintenance and organization of all client files

​Qualifications:

A minimum of three (3) years experience as a paralegal or legal assistant NO EXCEPTIONS

Ability to prioritize and multitask

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Deadline and detail-oriented

Full-time. Salary is based on experience. Paid vacation/sick time. 401k with matching.
