We are hiring for our Retail and Sales position. Both Full Time Year Round Positions and Part Time /Full Time Summer Employment opportunities.

Peninsula Processing and Smokehouse, LLC is a family run seafood processing company located in Soldotna and is one of Alaska’s most sought after locations for commercial fishing, sport fishing and tourism. We specialize in processing and marketing Wild Alaska Seafood to customers throughout the U.S., as well as processing, smoking, freezing & Shipping Sport Caught fish.

We began in 1997 as a small salmon processing facility in Soldotna, Alaska. Initially our company processed primarily Sockeye Salmon. Today, Peninsula Processing & Smokehouse, LLC has a product line of over 60 products.

Overview of Opportunity:

The base entry level pay rate starts at $15.85 per hour - to $20 DOE.

We are currently accepting applications to fill all Retail Positions including a Retail Manager and Retail workers.

Depending on experience and skill level the rate of pay will be adjusted accordingly.

The pay rate for Seafood Processors has a tiered scale based on experience.

For employees with high energy levels and motivation, it is not uncommon for shifts to be up to 12 hours per day and significant amounts of overtime to be available based on fish coming through the plant and the production schedule.

Peninsula Processing and Smokehouse, LLC will provide employee on the job training.

Job Description:

Various duties include stocking freezer cases, accepting incoming fish within the retail department but not limited to, packaging, racking, freezing, boxing, vac-packing, sorting, etc Retail employees are also required to clean-up and sanitize the retail area as needed or assigned.

Keeping accurate records of incoming fish and maintaining an accurate accounting of funds deposited and received.

Maintaining an accurate inventory.

Essential Functions:

Work under all these conditions:

Up to 8- 12 hours per day, with breaks 4 or more hours apart, during peak processing season during the summer months.

Work 5- 7 days per week during peak processing months.

Retail work is done indoors, in a controlled environment.

Work quickly and be focused on your tasks.

Working quickly with other employees while mentally focusing on the job the entire time!

Perform job-specific tasks:

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Keep accurate records as instructed.

Open and remove fish during fish weigh ins.

Segregate product on conveyor belt or table according to grade, color, and size, and place product in containers or on designated conveyors

Gather and weigh fish, seafood and fish boxes

Clean appearance and good hygiene necessary

Good interaction with customers is necessary

Pack orders for shipment

Review workspace for cleanliness and safety

Help clean up the Retail area

Always be on time for your shift.

Basic communication skills.

Read, write, and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.

Basic math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with 10's and 100's

Perform job operations using the units of measurement, weight, volume, and distance.

Help pack seafood orders for shipments

Be able to take instructions and maintain a positive attitude.

Visually identify defects in seafood products

Education/Experience:

Peninsula Processing & Smokehouse, LLC welcome workers with no experience but who are willing to learn.

Previous RETAIL Experience is a PLUS. Previous employment in the Seafood industry is a plus.
