Shop Technician
Qualifications
Working knowledge of standard practices, processes, procedures, materials, and tools of the carpentry trade
Ability to plan, layout and construct carpentry work of average difficulty from work orders
Ability to skillfully use a variety of hand and power tools, shop woodworking equipment and standard measuring instruments,
Working knowledge of different woods and the effect of climatic conditions on building materials
Responsibilities
Build, install, and repair structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools
Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using different tool.

Operate and maintain all equipment to include, but not limited to: table saw, band saw, planer, shaper, jointer, drill press, miter saw, router, sanding machines, bench work, sanders, and polishers
Smooth, shape, and touch up surfaces in preparation for finishing, using sandpaper, chisels, sanders, or grinders
Brush, spray, or hand rub finishing materials such as oil, stain, or wax, into wood grain
Applying appropriate top coating or other sealers
Remove excess solvent or finishing products to ensure product quality and desired finish
Maintains productivity, efficient time management, schedule, timeliness, is reliable and demonstrates initiative
Maintains equipment and appropriate handling of hazardous materials at all times
Maintains organized work area, neat and clean
