Power engineering - remote
I graduated Illinois ECE in '07 and now run Shortbar Inc., an electrical contracting firm in the San Francisco Bay Area (Oakland). I need some help specifying equipment such as panelboards, wire sizes, etc for some of our projects.
Representative project: a multi-building campus in Berkeley, CA is upgrading from 100A overhead 120/240V electrical service, to 400A, so they can install 9 electric dryers and EV chargers on several of the buildings. Your job would include: (a) performing load calculations in accordance with section 220 of the California Electric Code, (b) specifying the sizes of wire and conduit, (c) specifying the combination of overhead/underground service equipment to use (typically made by Eaton, Siemens, or Square D), and (d) submitting project documentation including CAD files, photos, etc to the utility, city, etc. in support of construction permits.
Realistically, I can teach any motivated undergrad (electrical preferred, but mechanical, industrial etc also fine) to do this workyou just have to show up, and care. This is a 100% remote job with flexible hours that can be done at home, sitting on your computerbasically, a co-op. I'd be happy to accommodate your schedule as-needed with calls later in the evening, or on the occasional Saturday.
I wasted four years washing dishes at fraternities and sororities so I could eat, in college. This job pays a lot better, teaches real skills, and can be done on your own schedule, week-by-week. Call or email if interested.
