Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Marine Construction Estimator to join our team in Florida. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating for marine construction projects and possess excellent analytical and communication skills. This role is critical to ensuring accurate project costing, competitive bidding, and successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for marine construction projects.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimates.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns for materials, labor, equipment, and other project expenses.
Research and evaluate material, labor, and equipment costs specific to the marine construction industry.
Prepare and submit bids, proposals, and budgets in a timely and professional manner.
Monitor and adjust estimates as project requirements evolve, or as additional information becomes available.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
Stay updated on industry trends, local regulations, and best practices in marine construction.
Participate in pre-construction meetings and provide input to optimize project designs and execution plans.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry, with a preferred 5-year focus on marine construction preferred. (Minimum of 2 years working in the field of Marine estimating)
Strong knowledge of RSMeans Data for construction estimating.
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Strong knowledge of marine construction techniques, materials, and equipment, required.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., PowerTools, ProEst, PlanSwift, or similar).
A strong background with excel is also highly considered.
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with Florida’s coastal and regulatory environment is a plus.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
