Dock Assistant/Concierge
Seattle Sailing Club is the home of fun, affordable sailing. We are both an ASA sailing school and a membership-based sailing club with 27 sailboats. For over 50 years, we have been serving the Seattle area, fostering the growth and education of new sailors, and providing more experienced sailors with an opportunity to sail without the hassle and expense of boat ownership.
We are seeking a dedicated Dock Assistant/Concierge to join our team of outdoor enthusiasts! This role centers around ensuring our fleet of 27+ sailboats is impeccably clean, organized, and ready for members to enjoy.
As a Dock Staff / Dock Hand, your primary responsibilities will include maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our fleet, assisting with dock operations, and supporting members. This role offers the chance to learn basic boating skills and maintenance tasks, with opportunities for personal and professional growth, including sailing!
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Cleaning & Preparation: Clean and detail boat interiors and exteriors before and after use, focusing on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
Daily Boat Inspections: Conduct walk-throughs to identify misuse, damage, cleaning and restocking needs.
Dock Maintenance: Ensure the docks and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and free of hazards to create a welcoming and professional environment.
Member and Boat Check-In: Assist with checking in boats and members when they return from their sails, ensuring proper documentation and feedback are collected for fleet care.
Concierge Support: Assist members by providing boat introductions, docking support, and resolving basic issues.
Inventory Management: Stock boats with necessary supplies and report inventory needs to the Dock Operations Supervisor.
Optional: Opportunity to learn and assist with basic maintenance tasks, such as light bulb replacement and refueling.
Qualifications:
Availability to work weekends (both days, required).
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and time management.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
Physical ability to lift 30 lbs., stand and walk for up to 8 hours, and step on and off boats.
Reliable transportation and smartphone.
Preferred: Experience in hospitality, cleaning, or marine industries. Sailing/boating experience is a plus but not required!
Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Weekends required, with two consecutive weekdays off.
Shift times may vary seasonally, with summer shifts extending as late as 9:30 PM.
