Hiring: Full Time Private Chef

Location: Austin, Texas based, semi regular travel

Compensation: $80,000 - $150,000 DOE / full benefits / PTO

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm, flexibility to stay late and provide extra weekend time as needed

Overview: A growing family of three who is relocating to Austin, Texas this Summer is seeking the talent of an experienced chef, proficient in creating nutritionally balanced, gluten free daily meals, and providing occasional catering for private events within the home. This role involves preparing three balanced meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with snacks and desserts for the family and staff members. Though not mandatory, the ideal candidate will have a background in high end resort style service, work within a michelin star restaurant or similar. Familiarity with prepping food for infants and children is highly preferred. Must be thoughtful, detail oriented, polished, and adaptable. This is a year-round position, in a formal fully staffed home. The parents are health focused, self made, hardworking and busy with their careers - they show respect, care and generosity towards their staff, and they deserve the absolute best in return. Responsibilities:

Meal Preparation: Understand cooking methods like sautéing, steaming, blanching, baking, braising, boiling, roasting etc. Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and desserts for a family of three (mom, dad, and one year old), assist fellow staff members in making sure they have reasonable assess to basic meals as needed. Making sure that there are leftovers stocked and ready to eat during your time off shift (over the weekend, planned vacation time, ect)

Cleanliness: Practice proper sanitation and safety practices when handling meat, poultry, fish, eggs, vegetables, cross contamination, and cooling and storage practices. Manage and maintain order within the kitchen area, effectively attending to your tasks in a thoughtful and orderly way, cleaning as you go to assist the housekeeper as needed

Planning and Events: Prepare meal plans and meet weekly with the family to assure their wishes and dietary needs are met, give opportunity and grace for any special requests they may have, preparation and planning of dinner parties, and events either as a liaison role with catering company or preparing the meals and dinner menu

Supplies: Manage food inventory and grocery shop as needed to ensure all ingredients are of high quality, fresh and available for use

Communication: Effectively communicate on status of various tasks as needed, respond to last minute requests with grace, and report to Estate Manager on any areas, supplies or the like that you may be needing support with

Professionalism: Arrive each day ready to be of service, focused solely on the goal of providing a positive and harmonious experience to the family as a whole. Conduct yourself with care and respect to your teammates, remembering that everyone is here to help one another, and to meet the families needs.

Qualifications:

Experience: Proven experience working as a chef for at least 3 years

Diet: Familiarity with Gluten Free cooking and baking, understanding of calorie content and building nutritionally balanced plates, ability to prepare top notch steaks and charcuterie boards

Skills: Strong communication, and multitasking abilities, patience and the capacity to manage multiple schedules and needs

Background: Experience in a michelin star restaurant or white glove service environment (highly preferred, though not mandatory)

Flexibility: Must be highly adaptable with the ability to adjust to changing schedules and responsibilities, including travel

Travel Ready: Willingness to travel with the family as needed for vacations, events, or other personal trips as needed

Documents: Valid drivers license and passport, or the ability to get them

Background: Provide at least 3 references, and pass a background check
