Pay Range: $62,000 - $104,000 (Dependent on Experience)

Your Role.

The Bear Creek School is currently seeking to add a member to our teaching team! Teachers are responsible for using a classical Christian education model to teach students, develop virtue, and help each student grow into the individual God intends. Lessons are carefully planned to inspire and motivate students and to support them in reaching the learning outcomes. A successful teacher creates a nurturing environment where all students feel known and valued.

The individual in this role teaches lower school lab-based science classes using a Christian classical educational model. The teacher instructs students using a variety of methods and hands-on experiences utilizing exploration and the scientific method.

We are seeking an individual who will:

Approach classroom instruction and student interactions from a Christian Worldview

Collaborate with grade level teams and department members to plan and implement the school’s liberal arts curriculum.

Actively ensure academic growth in every student by utilizing a variety of instructional techniques.

Communicate with parents in regular posts about students’ learning with photos and class happenings.

Create a predictable and supportive classroom environment.

Increase professional knowledge by participating in professional development opportunities and weekly faculty meetings.

Plan and develop engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices, and prepare daily and weekly lesson plans to help students meet the learning goals.

Track student progress by maintaining required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records and communicate with homeroom teachers.

Organize, introduce, and schedule Innovation Lab for each class.

Attend school events outside regular school hours including curriculum night, arts performances, science fairs, open houses, & professional development sessions.

Create a predictable and supportive classroom environment.

Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff.

Inventory curriculum and supplies and manage the science budget under the oversight of the supervisor requisitioning supplies as needed and approved.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Plan lab-based science lessons that help students learn the grammar of science.

Plan lessons that inspire and motivate students to engage in the study of science with curiosity and wonder.

Develop scientific understanding, application, and process in students using classical pedagogy and the scientific method.

Provide opportunities for personal engagement with the Gospel through instruction and hands-on activities.

Examine with students the integral nature of Christian thought.

Teach students how to engage in cultural discernment.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education:

Bachelor’s degree required.

A degree in science education also preferred.

Teaching credential preferred.

Experience working with Lower School students preferred.

Familiarity with classical methodology and Christian Worldview integration preferred.

Currently holds CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (with Epinephrine Auto Injector supplement included), or arrangements made to obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date.

You must meet the following physical requirements.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.

Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.

Requires standing for long periods of time.

Able to make visual and auditory evaluation of student work and performance.
