Head Chef, daytime
Much beloved breakfast restaurant is searching for a new chef.
The current chef has decided to resign after 10 years and will train a new person to take their position. Ideally this would be a soft transition with the same menu, but the restaurant is open to creative changes.
There is room here for someone to grow and develop as a chef to take something that exists and works and help it evolve.
The ideal candidate is experienced, creative, hard working and kind.
Essential skills:
Good palate
Expert with knife
Egg cookery
Butchery/Sausage making
Organization of team and prep
Baking of quick and naturally fermented bread
Short order line cooking
Scheduling, hiring and managing
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining excellent quality of food
Tasting and seasoning
Production of housemade goods
Ordering products and managing inventory
Leading a small team of dedicated people
Covering line cooks as needed
Being part of a positive and respectful workplace
This is a daytime position with start times as early as 6am. When you take breakfast as seriously as dinner, punctuality is essential.
It is important to note that chefs in this kitchen do not yell or throw tantrums and treat people how they would like to be treated.
