Blue Dolphin Charters - Maintenance Apprentice

Blue Dolphin Charters is a boat tour company that operates on Napali Coast and the forbidden island of Ni'ihau with a variety of vessel types including 65-foot catamarans and 24-foot rafts (RHIB). We are seeking a dependable technician who knows their way around the tool shop with opportunities for professional development and advancement within the company.
Pay and Schedule:
> Starting at $25/hour based on candidates qualifications, education and experience
> General schedule - Saturday through Wednesday (Off Thursday, Friday)
> On-Call and Overtime shifts for emergency maintenance jobs (possibly overnight)
Position Responsibilities:
> Primary Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
> Performing preventative maintenance
> Handling basic repairs and maintenance (ie: leaking faucet, replacing speakers, fiberglassing, etc.)
> Assist in major and specialized mechanical overhauls, including diesel engines
> Perform advanced services on inboard diesel marine engines
> Assist in diesel marine engine rebuilds
> Diagnose, repair, and replace marine plumbing, marine head systems, marine electronics, and fuel systems
> Maintain support equipment such as trailers, trucks, and dock equipment
> Assist with general maintenance, projects, and repairs on the vessel, vehicles or office
> Perform basic seamanship skills, including knots, water operations, and boat handling
> Conduct vessel checks before tours to ensure they are safe and operationally ready for trip departure
> Maintain accurate vessel maintenance records
> Delivery and pick-up of supplies and/or equipment for maintenance department
> Ability to use common tools such as hammers, saws, drills and wrenches
Requirements:
> Valid driver's license and vehicle for transportation
> Available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends & holidays.
> Ability to work 35-40 hours per week in person at Port Allen, with overtime approval from the supervisor or manager.
> Experience in the marine industry is not needed, but preferred
> Self-motivated, honest, energetic, and committed
> Ability to understand and to communicate effectively in order to constantly collaborate with maintenance team individuals
