Position Title: IT Support Engineer

Reports to: VP of Engineering

Job Summary:

The IT Support Engineer will provide infrastructure support for our frontend and backend engineering teams as well as general IT support for the rest of the company.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Provision and maintain workstation & servers.

Provide general IT support (troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues).

Manage Google Workspace (and other SaaS application) user accounts and features.

Document common administrative procedures used by end users (e.g. onboarding docs).

Leverage AI tools to enhance daily work processes and professional development.

Participate in code reviews of your own code and the code of your team members.

Cultivate a synergistic relationship with developers, who rely on the infrastructure you manage.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Growth Opportunities:

In addition to performing basic IT responsibilities, over time, gain familiarity with and then begin to assist in the maintenance and configuration of:

AWS servers, networks, databases, API and serverless functions

GitLab and AWS CodeDeploy CI/CD Pipelines

Datadog Dashboard, Metrics, Alarms

Docker images used for provisioning and deployment

Akamai content delivery network (CDN) properties and web application firewall (WAF) rules

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proficient with collaboration & productivity tools (e.g. Asana, Google Workspace).

Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and agile development practices.

Exposure to and an understanding of Source Control Management (e.g. GitHub, GitLab, etc.).

Highly self-motivated and self-starting, able to work independently when needed, taking ownership of both small and large projects.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Exceptional written and oral communication skills for communicating ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.

Strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and debugging abilities.

Share in after-hours on-call responsibilities for production support.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

Experience with Python and/or Bash for writing adhoc automation scripts.

Experience with Ansible, Chef, or other configuration management tools.

Experience with log analysis and monitoring (Datadog, Splunk, etc.)

Experience maintaining AWS infrastructure and permissions.

Experience with web service testing and load testing tools (e.g. Postman, JMeter).

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.

Job Location:

Company headquarters located in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Local candidates are preferred, but individuals seeking a remote arrangement will be considered and are encouraged to apply.

Pay Range and Benefits:

This role offers a competitive salary based on experience, with a starting range of $54,000 to $80,000 per year. As you grow in the position and take on additional DevOps responsibilities, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect the expanded scope of work.
