SEEKING A CHEF FOR A FULL TIME POSITION, OPEN AVAILABILITY REQUIRED

We are looking for a creative and passionate chef to lead the kitchen in a new café in Ridgefield, CT. The Market at the Meetinghouse will be an upscale market and café with fresh coffee, tea, sandwiches, salads, pastries, sweet treats and more, targeting the breakfast, lunch and midday snack crowd. In addition to the café, there will be a market with select grocery and carefully curated merchandise from local artisans.

Each applicant will be expected to have creative problem-solving skills, excellent time management and organization, a dedication to cleanliness and precision, basic knife skills & restaurant or café experience. The café needs a culinary team who will work together to maintain the established high standards and create a dining experience that will leave people wondering what they are going to try next. The menu will require simple yet unique innovation with a dedication to elevated country classics.

Experience Required:

- 3 years restaurant and/or café experience

- 1 year kitchen and team management experience

Cooking Skills Required:

- Proficient in common knife skills

- Complete understanding of basic kitchen equipment & operation - i.e. ovens, mixer, induction burner, immersion blender, deli slicer

- Strong competency in preparing items from scrambled eggs & sandwiches to fruit compotes & basic sauces

General Requirements:

- Strong communication

- Excellent time management and efficiency

- Able to work with a team, especially under pressure and with time constraints

- Detail-oriented and comfortable upholding the highest standards of precision and excellence, even when unsupervised

- Devoted to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and adherence to the health code

- Strong leadership and committed to always managing and maintaining an organized and team-oriented kitchen
