Automotive Service Writer – Job Summary
An Automotive Service Writer identifies problems with vehicles, gathering information about warranties and provisions for service coverage and drafting orders for repairs to be done. Customer service also pays an important role since you will be communicating with customers to understand the issue and concerns with their vehicles.
Service Advisor – Essential duties
Listen to customers’ account of issues and symptoms to better understand what the problem is.
Perform inspections to narrow down what the cause of the problem may be.
Verify warranty, insurance, or contract coverage for service.
Calculate and provide customers with an estimate of these expenses for resolving the problem.
Explain the process to customers so they understand what to expect and when their vehicle will be repaired.
Record information gathered from each visit in an appropriate database.
Draft order for repair with all information that has been gathered outlined clearly.
Order the correct parts to get the job done correctly and efficiently.
Work with supervisors and technicians to provide a positive experience for customers.
Handle the daily sales and communication with our customers to keep them well informed on the condition and status of their vehicle while in the shop.
Qualifications
Positive, professional, strong work ethics and integrity, problem solver and works calmly under pressure.
High communication skills.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail.
Identifying and relating to the customer inquiry.
Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
Strong computer and internet usage ability.
Prior mechanic shop experience.
Ability to reliable work the shop schedule of Monday thru Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.
Professional well-groomed personal appearance.
Valid Texas driver license and clean DMV record.
