Fleet Safety Manager

Job Summary:

4M Truck Trailer and Equipment is seeking a diligent Fleet Safety Manager to oversee our company’s fleet operations. The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring our drivers comply with all state and federal regulations, maintain their vehicles, and operate them safely. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, experience managing a large fleet, proficiency in fleet management software, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Fleet Safety Managers are responsible for implementing and managing the safety programs for a fleet of vehicles within an organization. They ensure compliance with all safety regulations and work to prevent accidents and injuries.

What we offer:

Starting salary $55,000 depending on experience, vacation time, and health insurance

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and enforce current & future safety policies and procedures in compliance with company, local, state, and federal rules and regulations

Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure equipment is in safe working order

Train drivers on safe driving techniques, safety regulations, and the proper operation of vehicles

Investigate incidents, accidents, and unsafe working conditions, identify causes, recommend and enforce preventative measures

Monitor and ensure compliance with company & Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and maintain all required records, review and audit maintenance and repairs to ensure accuracy and completion

Conduct employee drive tests

Coordinate and lead safety meetings, training programs, and initiatives to increase safety awareness among drivers

Manage driver performance and take necessary actions to ensure compliance with safety standards

Regularly review and update emergency and accident response plans

Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in fleet safety and propose improvements to existing safety programs.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

High School Diploma, a degree in logistics or transportation a plus

Extensive experience working in a DOT environment minimum 2 years

Proficient in fleet management software

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities required:

Able to work effectively in a busy, dynamic and collaborative work environment

Ability to think strategically and analytically

Great listening and organizational skills

Possess attention to detail, initiative and sound judgment

Excellent communication and training skills
