Position Summary:
The CDL Shred Truck Driver is responsible for servicing a daily route and providing excellent customer service to a variety of homeowners and businesses. Driver technicians will provide on-site document shredding services at the customer’s home or business location. Excellent customer service is essential to the role. Daily and regularly scheduled care and maintenance of the vehicle and shredding equipment is a responsibility of all driver technicians.
FUNCTION:
Drive a mobile document shredding truck to and from locations throughout St. Louis and surrounding areas to pick up customers documents for shredding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service Delivery:
Provide daily service to a busy route of existing and new customers
Perform shredding of customer documents at the customer’s home or business in a safe, secure and professional manner, as per the company’s standards
Communicate with Dispatcher on a regular basis daily to report progress or any issues with schedules and timing of customer routes
Deliver and install new containers in customer facilities, as required
Repair containers on site immediately, if required
Required to collect signatures and/or payment from customers
Customer Service:
Promote service to current customers to attract more business
Promote service to casual inquiries to secure leads for sales representatives
Manage all customer concerns in a professional and courteous manner
Build positive relationships with existing customers
Ensure standards for customer service are being met
Provide on time service to all accounts on a daily basis
Distribute marketing material as required
Equipment and Truck Maintenance:
Operates company equipment in a safe and efficient manner in an effort to minimize the risk of injury and equipment damage
Ensure that fluid levels are maintained daily (ex. fuel, oil, transmission, hydraulic, coolant, brake, and DEF fluid.)
Make minor repairs to the shredding truck and equipment, if necessary
Keep truck maintained, clean and professional looking
Inspect trucks for cleanliness, damage and maintenance prevention on a daily basis
Complete a daily safety check of the shredding vehicle and equipment and report any deficiencies immediately
Other Duties:
Strictly maintain all company procedures and present a professional image and attire both inside and outside the customer home or facility
Complete paperwork neatly and accurately and on time at each stop utilizing the company’s approved software
Provide end of day paperwork in a complete, organized fashion following company policy
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or the equivalent
Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience
Current valid DOT medical card
Clean driving record
Ability to lift 70+ lbs.
Ability to push/pull up to 300-pound wheeled container
Good communications skills
Geographic familiarity of routes/traffic pattern
Must have experience driving professionally within 70 miles of the base location
A thorough understanding of driving safety standards and regulations
Experience in providing service to customers in an independent role
Dedicated to exceeding the expectations of the customer
Acts with the customer in mind
Maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect
Ability to build rapport quickly, establish relationships in a short time
Listens well, not defensive
Superior time management skills - must be able to use their time effectively and efficiently
Ability to work well under deadlines.
Confidentiality and discretion are a must.
A drug test and full background check are conducted
Random drug testing required by DOT
OTHER:
Monday-Friday
Full time 40-50 HRS per week
Varied start time and finish time depending upon workday
Some overtime necessary during peak periods
Required to wear company-issued uniform throughout the workday
Ability to work well under deadlines
Drivers are required to wear our company-issued uniform and any PPE throughout the workday.
