Job Title: Taphouse Server and Brewing Apprentice

Location: Ein Stein Brewery & Hop Chaos Taphouse, 10115 N Newport Hwy Ste A Spokane, WA

Position Type: Part-time, 20-25 hours per week

Compensation: $16.66 per hour

Free lunch provided

Requirements (Must Have for Consideration):

Must be over 21 years of age

Washington State Food Handler’s License (Required before start)

Washington State MAST Permit (Required before start)

Strong communication and customer service skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Passion for craft beer, brewing, food quality and hospitality

Team player with a positive attitude

Willingness to learn and grow in both front-of-house and brewing roles

Ability to lift up to 40lbs safely

Preferred:

Those who want to work through May – August (Summer Months)

College students, especially those interested in brewing, hospitality, or food service or anyone requiring internship credits.

Previous customer service or restaurant experience is a plus

Interest in brewing and willingness to learn

Internship Opportunity (Optional for College Students):

80-hour credit internship available for Whitworth Brewing students

Hands-on learning in both brewing operations and taphouse service

Job Overview:

Hop Chaos Brewery & Taphouse is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Taphouse Beer and Food Servers and Brewing Apprentices. This dual role position provides valuable hands-on experience in both customer service and brewing operations.

As a Taphouse Server, you’ll provide excellent service, assist customers with beer selections, and help with food prep. As a Brewing Apprentice, you’ll learn about ingredients, brewing, fermentation, and beer production while assisting with cleaning and operations.

This is a great opportunity for college students or anyone passionate about craft beer and hospitality who wants to gain real-world experience in a brewery setting.

Positions Available:

2 Part-Time Positions Tuesday – Friday (Front Half)

2 Part-Time Positions Friday – Monday (Back Half)

2-4 Flex (On-Call) Positions (for busier hours or when other workers call out)

Summer Work Available – Priority given to candidates looking for summer work.

Work hours:

10:45am - 4:30pm

3:30pm - 9:15pm

Key Responsibilities:

Taphouse Server:

Greet and serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner

Provide information on beer selections and food pairings

Maintain a clean and welcoming environment

Handle cash and process transactions

Monitor customer comfort and responsible alcohol service

Assist with food prep (sandwiches, salads, and pizza ingredients)

Ensure food safety and hygiene standards

Brewing Apprentice:

Assist with daily brewing operations and sanitation

Learn fermentation, brewing techniques, and quality control

Maintain cleanliness and organization in the brewing area

Help with keg handling and equipment maintenance

Food Prep & Safety:

Assist with food preparation, ensuring freshness and compliance with health standards

Properly store and handle ingredients

Follow all food safety regulations and maintain sanitation standards

Training Requirements:

Valid Washington State MAST Permit (Alcohol Server Training): https://iservesmart.com/mast-permit/

On site Training Provided:

Food Assembly

Beverage Service

Safe lifting and material handling training (no lifting over 40lbs)

Must Prioritize:

Personal Safety and Well-Being – Ensure personal safety and follow workplace safety protocols.

Customer & Business Safety – Prevent over service and follow all alcohol regulations.

High-Level Customer Service – Create a welcoming experience for all guests.

Learning Brewery Operations – Develop hands-on knowledge of brewing and beer service.
