Job description
Fleet Solutions is currently hiring for a general diesel fleet mechanic that is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of vehicles within a company fleet, performing routine maintenance tasks, replacing worn parts, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and ensuring vehicles are in safe and operational condition by adhering to manufacturer specifications and company policies; this includes tasks like oil changes, brake replacements, tire rotations, electrical system checks, and fluid level maintenance, while maintaining detailed records of repairs and parts used. Key responsibilities of a general fleet mechanic:
Vehicle Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of fleet vehicles to identify potential mechanical issues, including checking brakes, tires, lights, fluid levels, and overall condition.
Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and battery checks according to scheduled service intervals.
Diagnostics and Repairs: Diagnose mechanical problems on vehicles using diagnostic tools and repair issues related to engines, transmissions, electrical systems, suspension, steering, and cooling systems.
Parts Replacement: Install replacement parts as needed, including brakes, belts, hoses, spark plugs, and other components.
Basic Bodywork: Perform minor body repairs like dent removal or panel alignment as necessary.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed repair records, including parts used, labor hours, and vehicle information to track maintenance history.
Compliance with Regulations: Ensure vehicles meet safety and emissions standards by performing necessary inspections and repairs.
Shop Maintenance: Keep the repair shop clean and organized, maintaining tools and equipment in proper working order.
Required skills and qualifications:
Mechanical Knowledge: Strong understanding of diesel mechanics, including engine systems, electrical systems, braking systems, and suspension components.
Diagnostic Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues using diagnostic tools
Hand Tools Proficiency: Skillful use of various hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
Basic Welding Skills: May be required to perform minor welding repairs in some situations
Technical Documentation: Ability to read and interpret vehicle repair manuals and manufacturer specifications
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to work to ensure thorough inspections and quality repairs
Work Environment:
Primarily based in a fleet maintenance shop, working on a variety of vehicles in different conditions.
May require occasional outdoor work depending on the job and weather conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,00 - $50.00 per hour Depending on experience

8 hour shift
Monday to Friday
Weekends as needed
