Associate Attorney for Civil Rights Litigation Practice
New York, New york city 00000 New york city USA

Corbett Rights, P.C. is a rapidly-growing practice looking to hire an associate attorney. We focus on civil rights litigation (police abuse, civil forfeiture, challenges to agency actions) and also do litigation in a few other areas: negligence, battery, contract disputes, discrimination, wage theft, nightlife-related litigation, aviation-related litigation. Almost all of the work is plaintiff's side and you will always be fighting "the man" rather than becoming him. Practice is nationwide, mostly in federal district courts, with a majority of our cases in New York and Los Angeles.

You are an attorney admitted to the New York State Bar Association and admitted to S.D.N.Y. and/or E.D.N.Y., or eligible and willing to be admitted to those federal courts. You are able to research and write legal briefs, on your own, without relying on AI. (You're welcome to collaborate with firm attorneys and use AI, of course, but you should be able to function without.) Here is an example of a legal brief written by the firm that won us an appeal in the 9th Circuit. If you can research and draft such a document, we want you. Also, the idea of making a difference with your law license should excite you. We all want to make a good living, but we're civil rights litigators because we can actually help people.

We're starting with a part-time role (perhaps 20 hours per week) with pay of $50 - $100+ per hour, depending on experience. We are happy to discuss profit sharing as well. You will be able to work from home at least 75% of the time, but you must be New York-based for court appearances and occasional visits with the firm owner in Williamsburg. Please contact through Craigslist only and include the words "NYC BASED" in your subject so that we know you: 1) are local, and 2) read through the end of this post.
