PRODUCTION ARTIST/COLOR PROOFER
Small, vibrant art publishing firm seeking a full-time, on-site entry-level Production Artist/Color Proofer. Ideal candidate will have an excellent eye for color and be able to manipulate color using Photoshop to achieve a desired result. Candidate should be highly service oriented, able to take direction yet work independently, have the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines and be willing to ask for help when needed. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Color correcting high-resolution digital art files using Photoshop
Digitally capturing artwork with scan-back camera.
Scaling, cropping, manipulating and retouching digital files
Closely communicating with sales staff regarding specific client needs and order requirements
Producing large-format print jobs on paper and canvas (including printing, quality-checking, trimming, varnishing, and hand embellishing)
Maintaining clean and organized working environment
Perform computer maintenance and archiving, i.e. file storage in designated areas, file backup, software updates
Assisting with various office and production projects where needed.
Pitching in to answer phones and help walk-ins when needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work on a Mac computer and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
High-level experience with Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Photoshop (Illustrator and InDesign are a plus).
Color proofing or image retouching experience using Photoshop.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret oral and written instructions.
Ability to work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines
Multitasking abilities and the ability to stay focused during interruptions; ability to problem solve, troubleshoot and learn quick in a changing digital environment.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to consistently
meet tight deadlines.
Effectively assess, prioritize and manage workload as well as collaborate with team and ask for help when needed; position
interacts frequently with other departments in small company environment
Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
Able to remain stationary and view a computer screen for long periods.
Basic math skills and ability to quickly find digital files among long lists of lettered and numbered titles
Able to stand for long periods of time.
Able to lift 50 lbs. without difficulty
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE SKILLS:
Experience with RIPS and large format printing on Epson aqueous and solvent printers a plus.
Experience with digital image capture using scanner or camera, and/or photography experience.
Project management experience.
Experience with Netsuite or other CRM software.
Experience working with a small team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong IT skills a plus.
A degree in fields such as photography or the arts is preferable but not required if experience is commensurate. Strong computer skills are necessary.
