Scope of Position:

Working under the general direction of the supervisor or lead person, performs a wide variety of duties associated with preserving product for shipping.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Knows, understands, and uses the appropriate safety equipment in a transportation environment.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to obtain correct dimensions and weights of units.

Prepare, inspect, and verify all outgoing shipments prior to crating:

a. Ensure all goods are acceptable in terms of damage, quantity, quality, and aesthetics.

b. Ensure all shipments receive the proper labeling.

c. Ensure all shipments are packaged/crated to arrive safely.

Understands how to safely operate powered hand tools.

Understands Mestex product requirements for shipping.

Knows the crating requirements for transporting LTL and flatbed.

Minimize the crating size as much as possible.

Participate in standardizing and creating crating solutions.

Operating forklifts and overhead cranes to safely maneuver units.

Assist in loading and unloading products using forklifts and overhead cranes.

Assist in material handling product from building to building.

Assist in other shipping processes when required.

Accurately read a tape measure.

Understands paperwork accountability when charging time to specific work orders as well as the payroll system.

Maintains area hygiene above industry standards.

Develop and maintain solid employee morale and safety awareness.

Adheres to safety and environmental rules.

Performs general housekeeping.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements:

2-5 years hands on construction related carpentry.

Knowledge of basic math skills.
