Sizewell C Deputy Project Director (Nuclear Island)
Location: Aztec West, Bristol  Are you ready to help lead a ground-breaking project that will shape the future of UK energy?   We are looking for our next SZC Deputy Project Director (NI), playing a pivotal leadership role within the SZC Project Organization at Edvance and EPR-E, acting as the key deputy to the SZC Project Director (NI).  The Opportunity  EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is at the forefront of nuclear power innovation, responsible for designing and delivering the nuclear island for major projects like Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC). As we progress with SZC’s design replication and engineering, we’re seeking a Deputy Project Director (Nuclear Island) to play a pivotal role in leading and delivering this transformative project.  
You’ll will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery and operational performance of the SZC Project within EPR-E, overseeing all activities to ensure they align with contractual obligations and project expectations. You will be a crucial role in monitoring overall project performance, ensuring targets and milestones are met efficiently.   Additionally, this position involves providing strategic leadership and support to the Project Director, including stepping in to manage key responsibilities, engaging with SZC Client teams, and representing the project in critical governance meetings and committees. Because success is personal.   What you’ll be doing   As the deputy to the SZC Project Director (NI), you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery and operational performance of all UK-based activities within EPR-E, meeting key safety, quality, time, and cost objectives. You will provide oversight of overall project delivery, ensuring all activities are executed in full compliance with the SZC contract, including the technical work packages required for design replication and engineering.   Additionally, you'll lead NI Project Management and Engineering Management, overseeing technical integration, configuration management, data, and tools on behalf of the SZC NI Project Director.   A key part of your role will be the appointment of senior UK-based management positions, ensuring the right leadership is in place to drive success. Beyond these core responsibilities, you'll act as a trusted delegate, stepping in to support or take direct responsibility for project leadership activities as needed, including representing the Project Director in interactions with SZC Client teams to maintain strong collaboration and alignment.    Who you are  To succeed in this role, you'll need strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, fostering a positive and high-performing team culture. Additional requirements include:  Essential Skills & Experience: Degree-level qualification in a relevant field. Experience in a senior engineering, leadership, or project management role. Extensive experience in nuclear new build projects, EPR, or PWR technology. Proven ability to manage large-scale engineering projects within a regulated industry. Strong commercial acumen, with experience in contract management and budgeting. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.  Desirable: Working knowledge of French and willingness to travel to France for business need.  Experience engaging with nuclear regulators.   Apply today and join us in helping Britain achieve Net Zero.  Closing date for applications: Tuesday 18th March     Success is personal.
