This role requires precision, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment under varying weather conditions. This position demands attention to detail, expertise in concrete techniques, and a commitment to delivering durable, high-quality finishes that meet engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Install and secure rebar, anchors, and other reinforcements within forms to support concrete structures.

Measure, cut, and shape lumber, plywood, and steel materials using hand and power tools to meet project specifications.

Erect scaffolding, temporary supports, and shoring systems to ensure safe access and structural stability during construction.

Install expansion joints, guardrails, and other wooden or prefabricated components specific to highway and bridge designs.

Read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and engineering drawings to ensure accurate execution of tasks.

Collaborate with concrete finishers, laborers, and heavy equipment operators to complete projects on schedule.

Perform repairs and maintenance on existing bridge and highway structures as needed.

Adhere to OSHA regulations and company safety policies to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum of 3 years of carpentry experience, preferably in heavy civil construction (highway/bridge work preferred).

Proficiency with carpentry tools such as circular saws, drills, levels, and pneumatic nailers.

Strong understanding of formwork systems (e.g., Peri, Doka, or similar) and concrete construction techniques. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and stand for extended periods.

Valid driver’s license a plus, but individual needs reliable transportation; willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.

Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.

Working Conditions:

Outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.

Exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and elevated work areas.

Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

Pour, spread, and level concrete using rakes, shovels, and trowels for highway pavements, bridge decks, and support structures.

Smooth and finish concrete surfaces with hand tools (e.g., floats, trowels) or power finishing equipment to achieve specified textures and grades. Apply curing compounds, sealants, or hardeners to protect and strengthen concrete after placement.

Install joints, edges, and grooves in concrete to control cracking and ensure proper drainage on highways and bridges.

Repair surface imperfections and patch damaged areas on existing concrete structures.

Work closely with carpenters to set forms and ensure proper alignment before concrete pours.

Monitor weather conditions and adjust finishing techniques to account for temperature and humidity effects on concrete curing.

Operate vibrators and other equipment to consolidate concrete and remove air pockets during pours.

Maintain tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by OSHA and company standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

At least 2-3 years of experience as a concrete finisher, ideally in highway, bridge, or heavy civil construction.

Expertise in finishing techniques for flatwork, vertical surfaces, and sloped structures.

Familiarity with concrete mixes, curing processes, and reinforcement materials (e.g., rebar, wire mesh).

Ability to use hand tools (trowels, edgers) and power tools (screeds, trowel machines) effectively.

Physical ability to kneel, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly in a demanding work environment.

Basic math skills for calculating grades, slopes, and material quantities.
