Located in Nopa, Early to Rise is one of San Francisco's most loved brunch destinations, featuring an old-school menu, but with all of our major staples made in the house. We are proud to make all of our own breakfast meats (bacon, ham, sausage, etc.), breads (bagels, English muffins and so on) as well as butter, hot sauce, jam you name it.

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Baker to create all of our scratch-made breads, including bagels, English muffins, syrups and more! The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking, organized and self-motivated.

About You:

Proven experience in professional kitchens with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in professional kitchens, preferably in pastry/baking, with minimum of one year of professional bread baking experience.

Strong knowledge of dough fermentation, proofing, and baking techniques.

Ability to work early morning shifts (typically starting at 5:30am).

Exceptional time management and organizational skills.

Dependable and committed to maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.

Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal abilities. Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Passion for food, hospitality, and creating exceptional guest experiences.

Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and bake a variety of fresh items, including bagels, donuts, bread, pastries, and other breakfast specialties as well as syrups, pastry fillings and toppings.

Follow recipes and maintain consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.

Manage baking schedules to ensure fresh products are available at opening.

Operate and maintain commercial baking equipment, including mixers, ovens, and proofers.

Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate needs for restocking.

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in compliance with food safety regulations.

Work efficiently under time constraints to meet production demands.

Collaborate with the kitchen team and contribute ideas for new baked goods or seasonal specials.
