Telephone/VoIP Field Engineer
VoIP & Traditional Telephony Systems Field Technician/Engineer:
We are an established telephone equipment company providing telephone equipment &
service for many small to medium sized businesses. We have a growing Hosted VoIP &
Unified Communications business line. We are looking for a qualified VoIP Field
Engineer.
Description:
VoIP Field Technician/Engineer – is responsible for the design, field installation,
operation, and maintenance of VoIP telephony systems, data communications,
legacy/hybrid digital PBX/Key systems, and peripheral equipment associated with these
systems. The successful candidate will be able to test, and troubleshoot a wide range of
transmission communications equipment & protocols including Ethernet, TCP/IP & other
networking protocols, T1 & PRI circuits, various internet provider circuits, customer
edge routers, CAT5/6 cable plants and T568A & T568B wiring. Typically duties include
troubleshooting, upgrading, and administering multiple vendor systems; maintaining
system applications and ensuring quality customer service. Back office duties include
providing support to a varied user community; updating daily logs with site-specific
information and composing clear and concise reports for system documentation. The
candidate is expected to perform his/her duties with minimum supervision, and
participate in overall customer focused meetings.
Qualifications:
Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Perform job duties with general guidance and a thorough understanding of the job and the
department's expectations and goals.
Maintain flexibility by attempting alternate solutions to resolve issues, and seamlessly
adjusting to a dynamic, changing business environment.
Good organizational, project planning and logical troubleshooting skills.
Work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as necessary.
Knowledge of data communications including data network design, routers, switches,
hubs, Ethernet, TCP/IP, Wireshark/PCAPs, SIP, SBC.
Ability to work and communicate with a group of technical & non-technical people alike.
