This recruitment serves to fill a hiring list within the Redmond Police Department. Eligibility for hire will last up to nine months. Applicants will be reviewed as they apply.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS
Mandatory Requirements:

High School diploma, or GED equivalent, supplemented with an Associate’s degree or vocational school training in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice administration, or related field; or two (2) years verifiable work experience in a law enforcement related position, or an equivalent combination of military, education and verifiable work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of this position.
Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment; felony convictions and disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven (7) years are not allowed; must have no history of illegal drug use (no use of marijuana in past five (5) years); must be a United States citizen within eighteen (18) months from hire date; must be able to read and write the English language; must be of good moral character and pass a thorough background investigation.
Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and departmental rules and regulations; ability to communicate both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, police department personnel; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to learn the City’s geography; ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating emergency and non-emergency situations and in making decisions; ability to perform duties on self-initiating basis without constant and/or direct supervision.
Special Requirements/Licenses:
The position requires employees to operate a motor vehicle in the course of their position. Must possess or obtain within thirty (30) days from date of hire, a valid Oregon driver’s license without a record of suspension or revocation in any state. Must have a safe driving record.
Possession of or ability to obtain Current Basic First Aid/CPR certification within sixty (60) days

Ability to meet police physical fitness standards.

Desirable Requirements:
For desirable requirements to be considered, one must have met the mandatory requirements noted above:
A Bachelor’s Degree in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice administration, public administration, social science, or related field.
Some knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment. Skill in operating the tools and equipment listed. Basic emergency first aid.
Proficiency with both English/Spanish languages.
