Assistant TEACHER

Our Teachers Assistant will have:

Commitment & Responsibilities:

Prepare/clean up the classroom for the school day

Students drop-off and pick-ups

Coach volunteer/intern teachers in the classroom to determine sources of frustration and possible solutions.

Offer direction in areas like course planning, special education, standardized testing improvement or other subjects, depending on the needs of the school.

Report any emergencies and write incident reports when needed.

Follow School Behavior Support and Social Emotional Strategies and policies.

Follow an individual education program for the student based on the student’s Individual Plan (IP).

Keep the child motivated and engaged.

Provide support for group, small group, and individual instruction.

Attend team meetings.

Assist with providing regular, ongoing, positive communication with parents, including but not limited to, daily or weekly written and verbal reports (Write students weekly summaries and briefs for teacher-parent communication)

Administrative tasks as assigned.

Maintain the school culture, nurturing and fostering a mental wellbeing environment for students, families and colleagues.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Share responsibility for school-wide activities.

- Take lead in supervising lunch and recess activities.

- Work closely with management leadership to create activities to promote health and well-being of the students.

- Exhibit resilience to persevere and turn challenges into opportunities.

Characteristics for Success (PERFORMANCE MEASURES)

- Behavior and Classroom Management: Ability to establish and maintain high expectations and create 100% engagement in a classroom of students at all times. Being able to deal, handle and provide support for challenged students to decrease behaviors and increase performance and promote mental health / wellbeing.

- Accountability and Data Driven: Proven record of student achievement as evidenced by student work, learning, and data.

- Self-Reflection: Ability to seek, accept, and implement feedback from colleagues and Principal on an going basis for continuous improvement.

- Stamina and Grit: Ability to handle the intensity required to work an extended school day and school calendar.
