Howard Honors Program Local Title Honors Graduate Assistant Budget Title Graduate Assistant 10 Months Rank/Grade T8 Line Number 90012 Salary Range $5,000/semester FTE Part-Time Negotiating Unit GSEU FLSA Exempt Department Website Brief Job Description Responsibilities: The Graduate Assistant aids and supports the Honors Program in the following ways:
Assist with the HON111 first-year seminar and HON444 senior seminar courses. This includes in-classroom (facilitating activities and discussion) and out-of-classroom (grading and course management) – primarily fall semester.
Assist with planning and executing co-curricular activities (includes occasional evenings/weekends).
Assist with student communications by managing digital platforms such as Bengal Connect, Brightspace, Instagram, and helping with newsletter creation.
Support the Honors Peer Leaders to facilitate their work with first-year students.
Maintain Honors Hub and Academic Suite spaces and provide assistance to students as needed.
Support the Honors Program office with filing, data entry, inventory, campus errands, mail, and similar tasks.
Engage in Honors Program administration including Honors Advisory Board and Honors staff meetings.
Assist with recruitment and admissions activities as needed.
Assist the Director and Assistant Director of Honors with other projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
Current or entering full-time (6 credit hours) matriculated graduate student at Buffalo State University.Preferred Qualifications
Interest in working with first-year college students.
Experience teaching in a classroom and/or facilitating activities with students.
