Artist Seeking Full-Time Studio Assistant

An artist in Brooklyn is seeking a full-time studio assistant to join the team.

Ideal candidates are hands-on, craft-oriented, and comfortable with physical work.

While skills like woodworking, painting, or ceramics etc are relevant, we are most interested in someone with a positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks.

Much of the role will involve assisting in the art-making process, which may include tasks like mixing paint and preparing materials. The assistant will also be responsible for general upkeep of the space and occasionally helping to move heavy or fragile artwork. Some days may be more physically demanding than others, so comfort with active work is important.

Someone who is punctual, organized, adaptable, with a passion for craft (whatever that may be) would be best for this job.

▹ Art handling/moving experience

▹ Ability to lift over 50 lbs

▹ A good eye for color

▹ Clay and ceramics

▹ Painting

▹ Photoshop or similar computer skills

▹ Hand sewing

▹ Paint mixing and color matching

▹ Woodshop

▹ General power tool knowledge

The studio is located in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, with pay of $21.00 per hour and 2 weeks of PTO accrued over the year.
