Field Research Assistant/Maintenance Technician

The position support the project Principal Investigator (PI) with agronomic field-based research activities for various local, statewide and regional agronomic trials. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the project PI or the station director on technical matters related to crop production practices for small grains, forages, oilseeds, alternative crops, row crops, and related issues relevant to agriculture in the Klamath Basin and Oregon.

Key Responsibilities:

Land preparation, planting, irrigation scheduling, agro-chemical applications, harvesting, seed processing, forage and grain testing, and plant and soil sample collection. Additional duties involve process and systems management, record keeping, data collection, and entry into computer systems, including Excel and other data management software. In addition, lead work (provide guidance) to students and/or temporary employees.

Work also includes maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery and equipment and performance of procedure in support of agronomic research.
