EV Engineering Technician
The Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting engineering departmental activities and initiatives by performing a variety of tasks on EV Systems and sub-systems. This is a hybrid position involving R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and automotive fabrication.
This Position Will:
-Perform development and validation tests according to specific test requests for EV systems.
-Responsible for all phases to the testing process and ensure successful test completion.
-Analyze and review test results with development team, performing initial diagnostics on failed units 2-year provide initial insights to the responsible engineer.
-Prepare test equipment and instrument hardware for testing, supporting installation of new test equipment and test set ups. Including but not limited to wiring harness troubleshooting and assembly, calibration of EV systems, general software troubleshooting.
-Create/update work instructions to reflect or improve testing processes.
-Must be physically present in the work area during specified working hours, unless instructed otherwise by supervisor, and be able to rotate to other work areas as instructed.
-Assemble, tear down and inspect battery systems and motors, to precise requirements, following work instructions and best practices.
Perform component and subsystem measurements using micrometers, force indicators, digital multimeters, and specialized computer equipment.
-Assist with manufacturing activities and production fulfillment.
-Assist with lite metal and automotive fabrication if applicable.
-Support engineers with engineering investigation due to implementation of new concepts or because of field failures.
-Other duties assigned by supervisor.
Professional Background / Basic Qualifications / Work Experience:
HS Diploma or GED required.
ASE Certification desired
2-year technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical or automotive technology
1-3 years of experience in vehicle or EV systems development
Proficient with the usage of hand tools
Analytical and abstract ability to understand how EV sytems work and therefore find issues when things are not as expected.
Technical Expertise:
Experience and knowledge of automotive technology, drivetrain systems, and related mechanical and electrical components.
Proficient in MS Office tools.
Experience with EV Systems and High Voltage preferred.

Must be able to solve problems and communicate issues to team members with a sense of urgency
Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks between assemblies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
-This position involves working indoors around mechanical and electrical assembly and hazards, fumes, irritants, with exposure to cold, heat and high noise levels under adverse conditions.
-While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
-Occasional overtime may be required to support project activities
