Lakehouse West is a privately owned upscale retirement community in Sarasota, FL, has an immediate opening for an Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, friendly, and a team player with good organizational and computer skills.

Responsible for all accounting duties to include, but not limited to: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, yearly financial budgeting, and monthly member invoice billing. Handles month-end close of financials, reconciliations and analysis of bank accounts, balance sheets, financial statements, and general ledger entries. Financial statements and reports are prepared and presented following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Prepare for and handle all aspects of annual accounting audit.

Assist the HR/Business Office Manager with Payroll preparation/verification when necessary and operate the Business Counter in the absence of the HR/Business Office Manager.

Assist Executive Director with special projects and needs.

REQUIREMENTS and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year university/college. Also 3+ years of related experience.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Must be familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Experience with MatrixCare and Enterprise Financials is preferred.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Department Heads, employees, Members and the general public.

Ability to work as a team player across departments and to adapt.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Drug screening in accordance to Lakehouse West Drug Free/Alcohol Free workplace.

Level 2 Background screening

Evidence of a negative tuberculosis examination must be documented on an annual basis
