Transfer Station Operator

Job Overview:

General labor duties at a municipal solid waste transfer station. The individual fulfilling this role must be flexible to work shifts as assigned, handle special projects assigned by a supervisor, and any other related duties.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform general site maintenance including, but not limited to yard work, track maintenance, janitorial work, and minor repairs

Maintain effective equipment checks (pre and post-operations)

Maintain various items at the transfer station for continual operation

Provide instructions to the customer for the proper location of disposal on the tipping floor

Perform inspections effectively and accurately in accordance with state-mandated Waste Ban Regulations.

Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Perform facility inspection checks as assigned by a Supervisor.

Follow and enforce all required Covanta safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred;

Experience working at sites regulated by OSHA preferred

Proficient in English

Able to pass a background check and drug test

Must be flexible to work different shifts, including weekends.

Able to work outside in hot/cold weather including wet and/or humid conditions

Able to use ladders/stairs and stand for long periods of time

Work Schedule: Thursday through Sunday, 6:30am - 5:00pm.
