Experienced advertising salesperson for online newspaper

The Highway 58 Herald, based in Oakridge, Oregon, is a nonprofit news organization serving the seven rural communities along the Highway 58 corridor. The focus for acquiring advertising and sponsorship commitments will be directed toward the neighboring Eugene/Springfield metropolitan area.

Responsibilities:

The Highway 58 Herald is hiring an outside sales rep to sell advertising and content sponsorships for our rural, nonprofit online news and information platform. The selected candidate will contact businesses within a 50-mile radius to obtain commitments to advertise and/or sponsor available news and story categories.

Qualifications:

The selected candidate will provide evidence of successful previous outside sales

Must be well spoken and congenial

Self-starter who can work independently and unsupervised

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing client information

Sees themselves as "closers"

Reliable transportation

A degree in marketing is preferred but not required.

Compensation:

Sales representative will earn a percentage of each commitment sold. TBD.

A travel allowance is negotiable.
